Rough Draft Meet the Brewer, Wednesday May 2nd

Hello beer lovers!  Next week is an exciting one here in the finest city of Craft Beer.  The World Beer Cup takes place May 1st and 2nd, and then we are hosting the annual Craft Brewer's Conference for the rest of the week.  There will be lots of out-of-town beer fanatics roaming our streets and bellying up at our bars, and lots of special events happening to make sure they never forget about us.  For our part, we'll be holding a special Meet the Brewer night in conjunction with an extra DrinkAbout bus that will be running on Wednesday, May 2nd.  It'll be a great opportunity to meet a bunch of new beerthusiasts, as well as some folks from newcomer Rough Draft Brewing.

Owner Jeff Silver and Brewer Anthony Tallman will be hanging out with us at the Rocket from 6pm on, guest bartending, introducing their beers to you, and enjoying some of the beer-apropos culinary pairings that Chef Tommy will create.  Rough Draft, San Diego's newest microbrewery (at least for the next few hours), is delivering tasty handcrafted styles full of flavor, body, and balance (see below for more details).  Come give them a try, along with some special one-night-only menu pairings.  Each pairing will run between $12-$15.  Reservations are being accepted at 619-255-7049 or feel free to just stop in to the bar!

THE PAIRINGS

Belgian-Style Blond Ale
paired with Pan-Seared Pacific Halibut, green beans, mushrooms, house-made kimchee, and kimchee BBQ sauce
What the Ale? Pale Ale
paired with Fish Sausage Mini Dogs and a Pale Ale-Dijon mustard sauce
Amber Ale
Oyster & Sea Urchin Shooters in the half shell with yuzu-jalapeno-wasabi dressing

ABOUT THE BEERS

What the Ale? Pale Ale (5.9% ABV)
Rich in taste and bold in personality, this American Pale Ale is the gift that keeps on giving. American hops on the nose. Clean citrus esters. Pleasantly hoppy.
Belgian-style Blond (6.2% ABV)
Attractively light and subtly sweet, this full-bodied beauty is one that you'll want to revisit time and time again. Sweet, floral, notes of honey. Lightly fruity with a touch of spice from traditional trappist yeast. Finishes Dry.
Amber Ale (7.5% ABV)
Well-balanced, full-flavored and pleasant to be around. Just like you. Malt-forward. Roasty with hints of caramel and chocolate. Full body. Balanced profile with delayed hop on the finish.

Another Saturday Night Ritual in Paradise: Organic Food, ArtWalk-ing & Live Music

The old saying goes... if March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb.

March is full of Ritual celebrations. We trust you'll share some of yours with us, in the tavern. The second Saturday of each month is a cause for celebration art & culture in North Park. Those in the know ArtWalk their way down Ray street from 6-10pm. Once your eyes take in the view, your ears will be in need of aural stimulation.

Miss Erika Davie
s is the cure :) Join us for a special late night (11pm) acoustical treasure. Rumor has it, Miss Erika & Trio Gadjo may share a song or two.

"If you’ve never heard Erika Davies, then you’ve never heard Shakespeare the way it’s meant to be sung. Her jazzy melodies scoop and flutter above delicately strummed ukulele in irresistible and intoxicating fashion. Serving up a cocktail of jazz standards and charming originals, Davies delivers an enchanting performance, anchored by gorgeous vocals and Amelie-esque charm.

Knowing not the history and education of Erika Davies, she sounds like she’s taken some vocal lessons in her day. Not just the standard pop style vocal lessons that afford one a fleeting chance at American Idoldom. Erika Davies’ sound is classic and she performs in a long since forgotten fashion.

Some things that you may truly admire are her charming use of kazoo solos, singing certain songs a cappella merely because there was no music written (yet), her use of ukulele complementing her wonderfully distinct voice and lastly, Davies’ little hand motions and sleight bodily contortions which make it seem as if she were grabbing each note from an invisible music sheet written in the air.

You’ll be left having quite enjoyed her style and may even view her as a true original in the San Diego music scene." http://www.bellyup.com/artists/detail/erika-davies

Join us, won't you?

p.s.
you'll have a whole week to rest up.
The following Saturday, March 17th we'll be serving our famous house cured corned beef with all our house-made chemical free fixins :)

Collaboration Brewers converge on Ritual for Cherry Chocolate Stout Draught

As you may have heard there is an incredibly tasty Cherry Chocolate Stout released last week that has it's roots in San Diego.

Award winning homebrewers Kevin Sheppard and Jason Fields won some competitions resulting in their homebrew recipe showcased at a national level! (Distributed by and brewed at Stone with collaborators Troegs.) Kevin is a regular visitor at Ritual so it was important to offer this draft(!) release party on his home turf. We are proud to be able to pour this crazy good beer from our taps. Can't make it to Ritual? Kevin will also be traveling to Troegs for a release party later this year on the East Coast.

Join us as we celebrate with these local boys, and enjoy this rare beer ON TAP Friday August 5th!

p.s.

Did you know we're open 'til 2am on Friday & Saturday nights?
Open at Noon on Saturday & Sunday as well :)
